DONATIONS

We look forward to your donations in the form of monetary donations or providing consumables, disposables, medicines and equipments for Heart surgery.

Donations within India are exempted under 80G and Foreign donations are  exempted under FCRA.

You can make your donations to us on our online fundraising portal www.betterplace.org

Donations can  also be made as cheques / DDs favouring the patient or the treating hospital or any of our collaborating NGOs. We would request you to contact us by email in such a scenario so that we can direct you for the needful.

How do we ensure that the money reaches truly deserving children?

Our medical social worker scrutinizes the applications to determine genuiness of the application.



What documents do the patients have to submit for seeking financial aid ?

1)Request letter from patient stating the financial need 2) Letter from a referring doctor/ treatment details 3) Estimate letter from the hospital  4)Income certificate  5)Birth certificate 6)  Ration card



How do I know my donations reach the patients?

In order to maintain transperancy we will send emails with the patient details and treatment given to them to donors who request the same. A progress chart of the donations made and donations utilised will also be available at our fundraising portal www.betterplace.org

ESTIMATE OF REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH SURGERY

1. Cost of consumables used during Cardiac surgery: INR 50000/ surgery

2. Prolonged ICU stay: 15000/ day ie. 75000 INR for 5 days

3. Cost of devices:  PDA INR 40000 ASD device INR 60000 to INR 100000

4. Cost of surgical patches/ grafts etc: 20000 INR

5. Cost of Conduits / Homografts :INR 100000

Current Needs

During the camp conducted in association with Ekam Foundation on 10.06.2016 we have identified 28 children requiring heart surgery. 8 of these children require early surgery, i.e within the next 2 weeks to one month. The average cost of surgery required for these 8 children comes to around 7.5 lakhs INR.  We look forward to all possible  help in ensuring treatment for these deserving children.

Heart surgeries for children

Our Mission

We are a group of surgeons, cardiologists and healthcare professionals trying to bridge the huge gaps existent in cardiac health care in India, especially with respect to financial needs. Equality of health care as a basic human right is what we are trying to emphasize


How We Work

The average costs for cardiac surgery in a private institution ranges from Rs.80,000 to Rs 4.5 lakhs depending upon the complexity. The various state government health schemes irrespective of complexity only provide Rs80,000 to Rs1.25 Lakhs. So the children with more complex heart diseases are not catered to by many private hospitals.

We are currently working with NGOs such as EKAM Foundation and Sri Shankara Heart Foundation to conduct camps and identify children who require cardiac surgery. Since most of these children require financial assistance for surgery, we actively help the parents raise finances. We contact heart foundations, individual donors and corporates to make donations either as cash or in the form of consumables required for the surgery. We also actively persuade the treating hospitals to truncate their bills on a case to case basis.
